A look back at 2010 and the activities that made for a productive year with the Virginia Minority Supplier Development Council.

The Virginia Minority Supplier Development Council (VMSDC) fosters relationships between minority suppliers and their potential clients: Fortune 500 corporations, government agencies and universities.

The council certifies Minority Business Enterprises (MBEs), serves as a resource for corporations searching for qualified suppliers, helps large corporations target and alert suppliers about requests for proposals, sponsors networking events that introduce corporate decision makers to principals at minority business enterprises, offers training programs, loan information and business assistance for MBEs, gives corporations the opportunity to learn from the best practices of other large businesses

The VMSDC has 103 corporate members and approximately 275 certified minority business Enterprises, ranking VMSDC among the largest councils in the Mid-Atlantic region. VMSDC is one of 37 regional councils within the National Minority Supplier Development Council network. A network which has a total of 3,500 corporate members and 16,000 certified mbes throughout the country.

By serving as a conduit between diverse suppliers and the leaders of corporate America, the council offers companies the opportunity to interact with a wider range of potential partners. This inclusive environment supports economic growth, increases employment opportunities and enhances the competitive landscape.

Alan Mullery MBE
Alan captained Spurs, Fulham and England during an outstanding playing career. He made his debut for Fulham at the age of 17, playing alongside his hero Johnny Haynes. Alan was best known as a fearless competitor and a great leader. He played 35 times for his country and was voted England’s ‘Player of the Tournament’ at the 1970 World Cup Finals in Mexico. He enjoyed ‘glory glory’ years at Tottenham where he won the FA Cup, the League Cup and the UEFA Cup. Alan went on to become a successful manger, leading Brighton to the First Division. More recently, Alan has enjoyed working as a soccer pundit for Sky Sports and Talk Sport Radio. He is a regular member of the matchday hospitality teams at Spurs and Fulham and is also one of the UK’s top after-dinner speakers. His hit autobiography was voted Book of The Week by the Sunday Times.
