VIRTUAL RACISM: Ignorance equals education?

Thursday, January 19th, 2012

Ben Kinchlow, former cohost of The 700 Club, in this videtorial shares that much of what is being affirmed as Racism today is something he calls Virtual Racism. In this mini-documentary produced by Dylan and Josh Wade you will get a non-nonsense history lesson that is spot on. Ben says, “This ‘virtual racism’ would have been hailed years ago by rank and file blacks as ‘having reached the promised land.’

“The thought having been ‘possibly’ redlined for a loan, or ‘perhaps’ not being promoted, or experiencing deliberately slow service at a restaurant would have been an occasion for singing, ‘We have overcome.’

“I had a very interesting conversation with a young African-American man recently who owns his own business and he’s also the operations manager for a very successful minority-owned business. He and his wife drive luxury imports and send their kids to a private school.

“When he complained about racism because of an article he had seen, I asked him, ‘How would you define racism in America? Give me some examples.’ He trotted out the usual… ‘People who are refused jobs.’ ‘People who disagree with Obama.’ ‘People who use the N word,’ etc.

“But I persisted. Give me a specific example of when and how have personally been subjected to overt racism or racist behavior?

“He was forced to admit that neither he, nor anyone he knew personally, had ever been subjected to overt racism? He was forced to admit that neither he nor anyone he knew personally had ever been called the N word or experienced other racist behavior from whites.

“So I asked him, ‘Have you ever seen a segregated water fountain?’

“He laughed, ‘You’re kidding, right?’

“Nope, I used to drink out of them all the time in segregated parks.

‘Segregated parks?!’ “Sure! You don’t think Blacks and Whites used the same parks, or playgrounds and schools do you?”

‘Get out, Ben!’

“Have you ever been to a ‘colored’ cemeteries? Yeah, there was backs of buses, separate waiting rooms and even separate churches. You know a white church member I met years ago believed that God had ordained segregation and actually said to me that we can be together in heaven because there we’ll all be washed whiter than snow. That’s a true story.

“He just looked at me. So I asked him tell me again what were saying about racism in modern day America?”

Silence.

America’s Persecuted Minority: Big Business by Ayn Rand

Tuesday, January 17th, 2012

Video picture is the first page of Ayn Rand’s article, America’s Persecuted Minority: Big Business, from her book, Capitalism: The Unknown Ideal
Political Satire of President Nixon’s 1972 election by the National Lampoon:

2-Teenyrap Phono Phunnies Pigeons Support Your Local Police

keep in my other significant quotes from this book: “The necessary consequence of man’s right to life is his right to self-defense.
In a civilized society, force may be used only in retaliation and only against those who initiate its use. All the reasons which make the initiation of physical force an evil, make the retaliatory use of physical force a moral imperative.”–Ayn Rand, “Capitalism: The Unknown Ideal”

and, “The actual war profiteers of all mixed economies were and are of that type: men with political pull who acquire fortunes by government favor, during or after a war–FORTUNES WHICH THEY COULD NOT HAVE ACQUIRED ON A FREE MARKET.” Ayn Rand

Why Advocate Women and Minority Workplace Equality – Nina Godiwalla

Saturday, January 14th, 2012

In Chapter 12 of 22 in her 2011 Capture Your Flag interview, author Nina Godiwalla answers “What Can Organizations Do to Better Support Women and Minorities in the Workplace?” Godiwalla finds many organizations make hiring women a top priorities but do not put as much emphasis to developing those female employees. As a result Godiwalla comes to believe companies are not looking out for the best interests of women. She shares investment banking experiences from when she worked at JP Morgan and associated challenges working in a male-dominated environment. Godiwalla then discusses specific ways to improve workplace equality for women and minorities. Godiwalla is the author of “Suits: A Woman on Wall Street”. She is also a public speaker on workplace diversity and founder and CEO of Mindworks, where she teaches mind-based stress reduction techniques to help organizations improve employee wellbeing. Godiwalla holds an MBA from the Wharton School of Business, an MA in Creative Writing from Dartmouth University and her BBA from the University of Texas at Austin.
